Kavanagh Homes takes their role as members of the community seriously. Improving people’s lives is at the heart of what they do. As a homebuilder they are intimately familiar with the pride that comes from home ownership and the necessity for suitable housing. Unfortunately, too many underprivileged people here in the Triad and around the world are living in substandard housing.

Because Kavanagh Homes has a heart for helping the disadvantaged, they proudly support organizations like Habitat for Humanity (pictured left) and Agape Homes (pictured top right). John and Ellen Kavanagh created Agape Homes over ten years ago to provide shelter in impoverished areas of developing countries. Agape Homes has built over 150 homes in Haiti, Africa, Nepal, and India.

Currently, Kavanagh Homes is building homes with Habitat for Humanity. Four homes have been completed in the Triad with a commitment to building more in the future. In 2005, when the Gulf Coast was struck by Hurricane Katrina (pictured bottom left) , they felt compelled to respond. Kavanagh Homes sent several teams of employees with truckloads full of supplies to help families rebuild. In addition, they built the “Kavanagh Discovery House” (pictured right) to house exhibits at Greensboro’s Natural Science Center.

Kavanagh Homes’ commitment to being good stewards extends to the environment as well. Each person who purchases a new Kavanagh home is given the gift of a one-year membership to the Piedmont Land Conservancy, which has protected more than 11,000 acres of land. The membership dues are used to support their mission which is “ to protect natural and scenic lands, farms, and open space in piedmont North Carolina to enrich the quality of life for our communities and for future generations.”
